What's New On The Farm?

We are currently in the middle of a busy harvesting season here at Laura Leigh Organic Farms.  Do make time to drop by and get some fresh, organic Raspberries and Blackcurrants at our U-Pick; it is a short season so don't leave it if you want to enjoy delicious berries all year long!  We are open from 9:00AM-9:00PM, please call if you plan on stopping in to make sure someone is present to assist you.  Our prices are $3/pint if you pick, or $4/pint if we pick for you (in this case, please call 676-2473 to place your order 24hrs in advance).  For seniors over 65 we have a special price of $3/pint picked for you (please call to order). Directions are available in the right sidebar, and we also have ads on www.usedpei.com and www.pei.kijiji.ca (search for 'raspberries'). Don't forget to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter, for up-to-the-minute farm-fresh news! :-)

Think About It!

Locally, ethically, organically produced food is your best choice because:

  • You will not be contributing to the problems of having an elaborate food transport system.
  • You will be strengthening the local economy and not empowering 'big business', which is ultimately at odds with small local producers and family farms.
  • Financial and employment spin-offs generated by the support of locally produced foods means that your children may have a better chance of finding work and keep local communities alive.
  • You will not be supporing Monsanto and other chemical giant producers in their practices and agendas.  This is crucial to the future health of our people and our land!
  • It is less likely to contribute to the contamination of our rivers and streams.  Where did most of the fresh-water fish on PEI go?
  • Should food go from field to table, or from field to processing plant to warehouse to ... ?
  • The health benefits of such a diet have been clearly shown to be superior to that of mass-produced, chemical-laden, foreign grown and processed foods, even those labelled 'organic' and sold by the big chain stores.  Get your food close to home, it's so much fresher and better for you!

Local Organic News

( Link to story ) Local, organic, fresh foods have been making news in PEI! We have a Commercial Clients portal created for local chefs/ businesses and restaurateurs, where specialty meats and produce can be ordered with a click of a mouse (access this by clicking on the last picture above).  We are also happy to sell to families and inviduals all across the Island; our offerings change based on the time of year.  Regardless of how you look at it, it is worth it to buy local because in doing so you support local producers, all while providing the very best for your family -Welcome to Laura Leigh Organic Farms!
